‘The greatest cities are the ones that look after their art,’ says Edward Gardner OBE of the magic of Dubai. The legendary BBC Proms conductor talks to Vision about bringing a new wave of classical music to the emirate
The British classical musical festival BBC Proms was performed outside of the UK for the second time in its 122 years this March, in a four-day festival at the Dubai Opera. This, says legendary conductor Edward Gardner, is “creating a new tradition of classical music,” in the Middle East and beyond.
In an exclusive video interview with Vision, Gardner discusses the ongoing legacy of classical music, and the benefits of reinventing a traditional British show for an international, multicultural and modern audience in Dubai.
