Watch: David Nicholls, a literary life

Acclaimed author David Nicholls, talks to Vision at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature about his latest novel Us, and middle-aged backpacking

After ten years spent as a jobbing actor, David Nicholls burst into the public consciousness with his novel Starter for 10, which follows a student's attempts to get onto the famously difficult quiz show, University Challenge. Since then, Nicholls has released novels that include the widely-acclaimed One Day – which was adapted into a film starring Anne Hathaway – and The Understudy. Appearing at the 2015 Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, the author explains the reasoning behind his latest novel Us, as well as his fondness for the international nature of the festival.
